Work Starts On New Plymouth Coach Station

Work has started to create Plymouth’s new £4.85million coach station and car park and council chiefs insist: “It will be big enough” and that “It’s huge and even bigger than Manchester’s coach station.”

The council asked coach operators on their thoughts on the new location moving the facility from it's current site at Bretonside to the new location at Mayflower Street and they are said to of told the council its a fantastic location.

The new coach station will have seven coach stands to serve National Express and Megabus, and a “blue badge holder” drop-off bay.

The entry from Mayflower Street will be for coaches and cars, but will have a signalling system to hold cars back from exiting while coaches are entering.

The old location at Bretonside will be turned in a cinema & leisure complex.

The new station is due to open by the Summer when thousands of summer holidaymakers are expected to visit Plymouth using the coach station as well as those local wishing to Plymouth for their summer holidays.
