End Of The Road For Express Route 033

National Express have left the people of Yeovil without a direct service on route 033 to London Victoria when the last service operated yesterday, passengers now have to change in Bristol to continue their journey to London.

Passengers have vented their upset in local Blackmore Vale Magazine and a spokesman for National Express said: "Unfortunately, due to declining passenger numbers, the 033 service will no longer call at Yeovil. As with any need to make changes, we have not taken this decision lightly - however, an average of just three people a day were catching this service from Yeovil so it is simply not effective for us to keep it running to this stop. Passengers travelling from Yeovil will continue to be able to use the daily 333 service to Bristol, enabling connections to the wider National Express network."

The loss of the 033 service comes as both Dorset and Somerset county councils consider making cuts of around 500,000 in bus subsidies as they prepare to set budgets for the coming year.
